About Me, Marie Penrose
Welcome to Penrose Meditation. My name is Marie and I have been teaching meditation since 2020, having had a dedicated daily practice since 2017. I offer group classes, 1-2-1 mentoring and wellness workshops both online and in person.
I am 30 years old and as a Mother to two girls (aged 5 and 3) nurturing growth and encouraging the personal development of individuals runs through every aspect of my life. Pre-children, I was a copywriter, blogger and social media manager. Having experienced burnout, stress and many challenging life situations, I have an intimate first-hand understanding of how life’s demands can take its toll.
Discovering mindfulness meditation is the best thing that ever happened to me. It helped me to bloom like a flower being watered after a severe period of drought. Having gone from stressed and depressed to calm and connected, I now have a passion for helping people on their own path to mindful living.
My Journey
Before Meditation
Like any teacher, my journey started as a student…
In 2017 I transformed my own mental health from anxious and depressed to thriving and resilient.
Honestly, when I first took up meditation it was reluctantly. I was at rock bottom and my partner was desperate for me to find something that would help me out of the hole I was in. Having already tried various forms of medication and therapies, he suggested that I find a social activity that could spark some joy. As you can imagine, at this time I didn’t have any mojo or desire to join any of the classes I found online despite having once been a very outgoing, sociable and physically active person.
Then I stumbled upon a website providing a local meditation class. I felt pulled to attend a session. Sitting in a room with my eyes closed felt far more appealing to me in that moment compared to anything else I had found, and I knew attending would appease the people around me, who were desperately wishing for me to get better. And so I turned up. Little did I know it was the missing puzzle-piece which would help everything slot together, and the picture was better than I could’ve dreamed.
After learning meditation
I never looked back after attending that first meditation class 8 years ago.
It resonated so deeply with me that I turned up week after week, not missing a session in 2 years. I not only followed the meditations being taught but slowly began to develop and sustain my own personal practices. In this time I had countless lightbulb moments and before I knew it I had a completely new perspective. With each passing day I felt more at peace with the world and myself.
The shift I experienced was felt internally but interestingly, it was visible externally too – everyone around me commented on the difference. I felt free, present and connected. I began leading with authenticity and listening to my intuition became easy. I finally had the ability to be in the moment rather than trapped solely in my head, believing every single thought I had and allowing it to define me and dictate my reality.
Becoming a teacher
As my ability to sit in awareness grew, so did my wisdom. I organically began sharing the insights I had gained through my own experiences and people continually fed back to me that the things I had shared with them had led them to some of their own realisations and transformations.
It wasn’t really a decision to become a teacher, it was a natural progression. I have always loved to help people and connecting beyond the surface level is just how I do life. In hindsight, though it may sound cliche, my breakdown became my breakthrough and I am so thankful that it landed me here.
I believe my past struggles serve as a bridge – I can now meet people where they are with compassion, stability and understanding and hold their hand whilst they find their way to the other side!

How do I know if joining is right for me?
A sign that we would be a good fit to work together is if you answer yes to one or more of the following questions:
Do you want to become more present in your day to day life?
Would you like to transform how you cope with adversity?
Do you want to experience fulfilment, no matter your life circumstances?
Would you like to improve your mental state of mind?
Do you feel you could benefit from tuning into your intuition more?
Would you like to uncover the wisdom your body holds?
Does releasing unhelpful, self-limiting beliefs sound attractive to you?
There are so many life-altering benefits to developing a meditation practice. If you want to learn Presence and find out what that changes for you, I’d love to be the one to help you on that journey.
